Netflix I ; Our Beloved Summer

released on 6th of December 2021

“Our Beloved Summer” is a comedy romance drama following the story of young people's first love, which is unfolding when they are forcibly summoned back together due to the popularity of a documentary they filmed together in high school. Starring Choi Woo-Sik (Choi Ung) and Kim Da-mi (Kook Yeon-Su) as the leads in the drama.

Choi Ung, a free-spirited illustrator. He doesn't have a proper dream and is accustomed to living while hiding himself, but he faces various emotions when he meets Kook Yeon-Su, who is the top student in school.

Kook Yeon-Su, a public relations expert who goes straight for success. From being an honor student who never missed first place in school, she became a publicist recognized by society. She ran only looking for success, but she lives with scars from living through a harsh reality. She is a fierce young woman who looks only at success and goes straight ahead without hesitation.

This drama provides me with a good amount of comfort. The characters' feelings are expressed exceptionally well. The writer's storyline is light but lovely, providing us with realistic moments that can be used as learning opportunities for everyone. The cinematography is stunning, and the music is great. Christmas Tree by V (BTS) and Home by Janet Suth are two of my favorites OSTs from this film. These songs have the melody that soothes and relaxes me.

" I wanted ....

to see you love only me "

This is my favorite scene. Here, the script is well written. After denying it for so long, both of the main characters realized how they genuinely felt about each other and set their egos and pride aside to confess their love for each other. They always misinterpreted each other due to a lack of communication. That is the truth that many adolescents and even adults are confronted with these days. It demonstrates the importance of great communication with your partner.

How nice did it feel to finally confront your partner about the emotions you'd been suppressing for so long? The relief you feel when you realize how your lover genuinely feels about you is indescribable. That is why I love this scene so much since it is so relatable to my own life. Who doesn't one to have that one genuine talk, free of hatred and pride right ?
